Yuzawa a.k.a Echigo-Yuzawa is tucked away in the beautiful Japanese Alps in the Niigata prefecture with a population of approximately 8,000 people.  Being only 200km – approximately a 70 minute shinkansen (bullet train) ride from Tokyo station it is the most easily accessed ski area offering 14 ski resorts within 10km from Echigo-Yuzawa station.  An authentic Japanese town with hardly any westerners it gives the true Japanese experience seeing locals going about their daily lives and because Yuzawa is still an undiscovered skiers heaven by westerners, the ski slopes during the weekdays are yours to be enjoyed.
